Too many Projects!
I have too many projects going right now!!!! How about you? My priority is to prepare my presentations for Popular Woodworking's WIA Conference. (BTW, You can hear my interview about WIA with The Renaissance Woodworker (aka Shannon Rodgers). We talked about the rocker, the classes I'll be teaching, tools I like to use, how I got into teaching the rocker and a lot of interesting woodworking talk in general.) Well, You be the judge.
Back to the projects :
-
I am finishing "Essie" the 8/4 rocker redesign. This has taken a lot of work because of the lack of headrest depth. I refused to laminate the headrest and what it got me was a spindle side profile redesign along with the back legs, arms and headrest. It's all almost brand new!
-
The BowTie Valet Stool project was a hit! Thanks so much I am thankful so many of you called and emailed wanting patterns. You are in luck!
-
I am working on patterns for several projects that will be available for purchase only from my website.
-
A sculptured base pedestal table and an eight foot long double pedestal (3 legs per pedestal conference table).
Pattern & booklet mini-bundles I'll be offering soon:

My original DVD bundle teaches the construction of the rocker. This companion video teaches the art of carving a beautiful organic rocking chair. Using lively, tight video shots with rich explanations, I break down the 1 hour and 50 minutes of instruction into four parts:
-
Identification of the hand and power tools that I use
-
Analysis of all of the rocker's lines and surfaces in three views
-
How to sculpt the individual parts of the rocker
-
How to fair the parts together for that flowing monolithic look.
I will teach you to sculpt furniture and help you make your rocker a true work of art to be enjoyed for years to come.

Improving My Table Saw Joinery

The seat on the BowTie Valet Stool and the Bow Tie Rocker require seat notches to be cut at angles in end grain. These notches are closed on 3 sides and have saw blade ridges on the bottom that can't be cleaned up with a router plane due to their depth and because of stubborn end grain. After spending too much time removing the ridges with hand tools I decided to try a Forrest 1/4 or 3/8" Finger Joint Set (Yeah, Yeah! I know it's really a dado set.) Very good results so far. It may become a favorite if it gives me a contollable cut and a flat bottom. (Sounds like something from a weight loss program)

I thought you might want to see some of the success stories I have received. Some built from the DVD bundle and some took a 7 day class. I'm having 100 of these 11X17" posters printed.
If your rocker is pictured let me know and I'll send you a poster with my compliments! For a better view!

I am so proud of all who have built their "bucket list" rockers!
