The Festool Domino

You have got to reinforce the seat joints, especially if you go with the coopered seat. When you take flight and get into the settee, double rocker and such with the width of two seats put together the joints must be reinforced. The best and easiest  reinforcement is the Festool Domino. I use it in the rocker DVD and in my own shop to great advantage. In the last few years Sam used the Domino and liked it for its ease of use. He saw what I saw I am sure, that it provided the maximum alignment and cross-grain reinforcement between the five coopered seat boards. Alignment and rigidity are very important during seat glue-up.  You can get by with biscuits but you won't get the reinforcement necessary to thin the seat out in the "Maloofian Style" that makes the rocker a chair of lines instead of a chair of mass.

You will be very glad you spent the money on the Festool Domino!

Use the 8X40MM (click on link)or the 8X50MM (click on link) Dominos.

While you are at it don't forget dust collection.  Festool is by far the best at hand power tool dust collection. It is a must for two reasons1) Your Health!!!! and @) The Domino and most Festool products depend on it to function at their and your optimal level. Isn't that why you buy Festool!
